MEET DR. CARLA
More about me
I was born and raised in New York and spent three of my formative teenage years in my family’s native country, the Dominican Republic. Inspired by science and fueled by an innate passion for helping people, I knew as a child that a career in medicine was the path for me.
I attended medical school in Santiago, Dominican Republic at Pontificia Universidad Catolica Madre y Maestra where I graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2011. I took up my residency in obstetrics and gynecology in 2014 at NYC Health + Hospitals/Lincoln in Bronx, New York. Since 2018 I’ve practiced out of Montefiore New Rochelle Hospital in Westchester County, New York. As of 2021, I am an active diplomate of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
I offer patient-centered care with a dual approach: a focus on nutrition, herbs and movement for overall wellness and conventional medical practices as necessary.
I am a married mother of three children who has personally experienced deliveries in both the hospital and home birth setting.
WHY I DO IT
Pregnancy & Birth
Inspired by the body’s natural design to carry and give life, the birth journey is a particular focus for me, encompassing fertility, conception, pregnancy, birth and postpartum care. My belief is that birth is a physiological event and I strive for it to go undisturbed as often as possible. My medical training allows me to identify when truly high-risk conditions are present and act in accordance to your needs with proper interventions as indicated.
